Eoghan o’Flanagan
Eoghan O’Flanagan is the best grappler in Europe and 5th best in the world in the under 88kg division. As co-founder and co-head coach of the Submission Grappling Club, he brings over 20 years of grappling experience and over 10 years of teaching experience.
Eoghan is most known globally for having competed and coming 4th in the world in the biggest grappling show of all time, ADCC 2022 (equivalent to the Olympics for BJJ).
He had a “breakout performance” and was touted as an “ADCC standout competitor”, which marked him as the best-performing English male competitor of all time.
Eoghan made history by being only the second European athlete to make it to the semifinals and the first English athlete to make it past the 1st round in the male division.
This followed another standout performance at the ADCC European Trials in 2021, where Eoghan won all 5 of his matches with submissions.
Eoghan’s grappling career started with traditional martial arts. He started training in Judo at the age of 4 and he was actively competing in children’s tournaments. He transitioned to submission wrestling and no-gi training in both Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo when he went to Cardiff University to study Economics.
In 2017, following the completion of his degree and at the age of 22, he was awarded his black belt by the highly respected Helio Soneca.
Eoghan has been teaching at a variety of different locations across London and Cardiff for over a decade. He has also been frequently teaching seminars and private classes across Europe.
